I am not surprised. I believe that you will see further cooperation between Chrysler, Renault, and Nissan. Renault and Nissan need both a strong dealer base and a full line of trucks to truly compete in North America. What is keeping the Nissan heavy-duty truck from being a Dodge Ram (Sterling Bullet)?

Yes, I read a similar article in the "Detroit News" recently. The article pointed out that in addition to 3/4 and 1 ton work trucks Nissan wants to compete in the work van business that's dominated by Ford and GM. It will be interesting to see how it works out. It will give Cummins a stronger position in this market and I have no problem with it.
I think that proliferation of diesel vehicles in the US is a good thing. If Nissan want to get in to the "medium duty" market, Cummins is a good choice. If the engine eventually makes it into the Titan, that just means more selection for the buyer; all good.
While happy with my Dodge/Cummins, I worry about Chrysler's long term prospects. The public moves made by the new owners don't inspire confidence. If Cummins does supply engines for Nissan, maybe we could keep our favored engine in a different chassis.
There are only two truck brands that are worthy of Cummins. They are Dodge and Peterbilt. Keep foreign vehicles foreign. Cummins in a Nissan is like putting a Japanese rice burner engine in a Dodge Charger. It don't make any sense.
After the way France treated us after saving their bacon during WWII (the big one!!)) I refrain from knowningly buying anything French. Why can't Cummins partner with Toyota or Honda? Just a question.
I think it's a wonderful idea, as long as the trucks are built here in the U.S. I drive a 95 CTD, my wife drives a 2001 CTD, and my father drives a 2003 CTD. Bottom line, we drive the Dodge because of the Cummins, not that I wish Dodge any ill will, or can I forsee a Nissan in my driveway, but I have to smile when a manufacturer, who could choose any engine platform they want, chooses an Amercan one. GO CUMMINS!!!!
