Our January 10, 2009 rally was a big success! We had 45 trucks participate. We owe a big thanks to the Turbo Diesel Register (TDR) for your support.
Most participants drove Dodge/Cummins trucks, and they ranged from First Generation work trucks to Bremerton Dodge's Paul Shaffer's decked-out dually. We welcomed a local Ford group, and Bay Ford brought a brand new truck as well.
For our free raffle the Turbo Diesel Register was our most generous contributor. The goodies and sample magazines were snapped up. We also owe a big thank you to the Bremerton Dodge, Grey Chevrolet, Bay Ford, and Bethell Automotive. The facility managers were so impressed with our turnout and the type of folks who attended that they have asked us to come back this summer.
We will be planning another event soon. We will keep the Turbo Diesel Register members updated!
We've just heard from our vacationing Jim Anderson! He tells us that it is time to get the Florida TDR snowbirds together. So for those of you who have expressed interest in gathering, mark your calendars for either January 20, 2009 or February 19, 2009. His plan is to meet from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Bring your own lawn chairs. The meeting goes on (outdoors) come rain or shine. Be prepared!
Location: Lakeland, Florida. Target Store parking lot on US 98, just North of Interstate 4.
Directions: Take exit 32 on I-4. Turn North on US 98 for approximately ½ mile. Turn right at Target store sign. Smoky Bones restaurant is also on this corner. We will meet in the far right area of the Target parking lot which is usually not occupied. Look for Jim’s 2006 white 3500 dually quad cab.
The plan is to meet and greet from 11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m., then move to Smoky Bones restaurant for lunch. Following a leisurely lunch, the group will gather for truck talk, show and tell, fellowship, and a Q&A session. Everyone will benefit from this group discussion. Your guests, who may not be interested in truck discussion, will be happy to know there are several stores and a mall nearby, including Target, Michael’s, Barnes & Noble, Belk, and many others.
Please RSVP to Jim Anderson directly at j.t.anderson@worldnet.att.net so he can plan accordingly. If you have a problem or get lost, Jim can be reached at (865) 310-1512.
The very western part of Washington is about to have a long-awaited diesel gathering! It has come to the attention of TDR Member, Rhonda Kelly, that there are many diesel owners and enthusiasts in the Olympic Peninsula area who are excited about a diesel-specific event. Some of these people are Dodge Cummins believers like Rhonda, and some have diesels of other brands. According to Rhonda, all are welcome!
On January 10, 2009, the group will rendezvous at the Silver Spur Club in Bremerton (8000 Nels Nelson Road - across from the Fairgrounds) at 12:00 noon. Go on by the clubhouse and enjoy some coffee and a bite to eat. Tell Rhonda the TDR sent you! Meet some new friends. Show off your truck. They will have informational brochures for diesel resources and vendors, and plenty of door prizes!
For additional information, contact TDR Member, Rhonda Kelly at (425) 269-0029. You can check our her website at: www.BeatByaDiesel.com as well.
Post the thing (diesel truck related) that you most want to see in your stocking this year and why you want it. What we are looking for with this contest:
- Ideas about what products you're wanting to have or learn more about in 2009 - A few good laughs (because we know how witty you can be)
The prize? A 4/2/1 filter maintenance kit for your truck (provided by Geno's Garage) or a $100 gift certificate to Geno's Garage (your choice). Winner will be posted no later than December 25, 2008.
