Speculation - 2009 1500; 2010 Turbo Diesel?
By Robin Patton | Published  12/12/2007
Webmaster, Steve St. Laurent, found this photo in one of his many web surf expeditions.  It is common knowledge that the truck will be redesigned for the 1500 series customer for model year 2009 and for us Turbo Diesel owners in 2010.

If you look at the source for this picture (Mopar online catalog), you'll realize that someone at Mopar made a huge mistake.

Either that or they've sent us on a wild goose chase.

Regardless, the picture of this 2009? 1500 truck leaves us with a big yawn.

Aaahhh.  We're not breaking any new ground with this truck.  Looks like they're playing it safe at Auburn Hills.  What do you think?

Post your thoughts here, and have fun.

    It looks pretty good,
I'm glad to see those hideously plastic looking headlamps(2006-7) disappear. Makes me glad I have an '03. What really interests me is what diesll engine is going in the 1500's and the new Ford F-150's, anyone heard?

I think you are way off base. The front end has the new mustang overtones, the interior is a welcome relief. The add HP plus the cargo utilization is a plus.

Of course if they were real men in Detroit, they would of offered a hybrid version or the Cummins in the 1500. Cmon Detroit, we have to sell the 1500 to the wives! Think MPG and the illusion of green!

Looks like an older ford mixed with a dodge. Hopefully they will actually come out with something better.

Robin, I respectfully disagree. I like the new look and hope that it goes to production exactly that way. Being both old and conservative I prefer incremental improvements or "refreshening" over major change to an already familiar and acceptable look. It looks great to me.

I think it looks crisp!!! I think the lines are cleaner than the current 3rd generation design, and it sure beats the crap out of the current GM and Ford designs...were GM and Ford designers unconscious when they came up with those front-ends??? I can't stand either of them! Now lets hope Dodge puts a decent grade of leather in the truck, and they will have a real winner!!!

Looks like a good refresh of the current model. Not to dramatic, I like the front end with the front of the hood pushed over the bottom of the grill. I have to agree with one of the other comments about the trim, fit & finish and leather quality they could improve. Also needs bolder headlights. All together not bad.

Well, they have kinda fixxed the crappy 07 headlights.

It's refreshing to see new styling that's more conservative than "bold" or "edgy." It's amazing this comes from the same company that recently redesigned the Dakota. It corrects a number of the current generation's design shortcomings, and does it with appealing style. This truck looks clean and has a great stance compared to the new offerings from GM and Ford, which stare back at you with their massive, garish grilles.

I like the new truck. From what I can tell in the photo, it appears that the design is more refined than previous Rams. It looks tough, while appearing elegant. The design allows Dodge some flexibility when accessorizing option packages. They can make the truck look sleek and suburban or aggressive & hard-working. I am excited about what lies ahead for the 2500 & 3500 trucks.

In my opinion, the only truck that comes close is the GMC. All others are so-so or plain down ugly.

At first glance, I thought there was some Ford lines in this truck.

Looks like a risk management design.
An amalgamation of dodge , ford and toyota... not bad, just not very original.

Though I love my Cummins diesel Dodges, I wish Chrysler would do something to improve on the looks. This truck is no exception. The styling is so bland that even the aftermarket has a tough time catering to owners wishing to improve the looks of their trucks. Dodge's truck design would make Virgil Exner proud. The only problem is; does Chrysler have another 50 years before they actually become fashionable ?

Wouldn't it be interesting tohave a reasonable design, but really work on the running gear to be as error free as possible. Hummm, headlights that actually work and do not melt down, etc. Minor cosmetic changes, really good mechanicals. Then market it based on the extreme reliability of the product.

I don't think it looks like a Ford but more like a Tundra. The Tundra is a good looking truck, but Dodge started the trend of a big rig style in the secound generation. They should come up with a sharper style. Looks like the others have taken the old style and run with it. Don't get me wrong, but I still think Dodge is the best looking truck and I hope it stays that way.

I think the 2009 Ram looks great! It looks a hick of alot better than the ugly 2008 Ford has out now, that thing looks like a Cow! The Dodge has graceful lines, with more of car like look. I think this will appeal to those who never thought of buying a truck. Bring it on! I am ready to trade now!

Looks good! I hope the list of options can rival Ford and GM as I feel Dodge has fallen behind in these areas. Maybe they will outdo the competition in the truck market as they did with the Cummins engine a few years ago.

I pray they are making legal for Europe where the weight limit for light duty trucks is 3,5 tons.

Dodge is starting to try to go more for looks is what it seems to me. i have an '06 dodge 3500 diesel and i love it! power and looks that arent showy but are reflecting the ranchers and hardworkers of america, that model is the best ive seen, keep making the reliable design is what im thinking. the big rig style trucks are by far the best of the bunch.

I have seen the new 2009 dodge 1500. It is a guys truck. It has the intimadating look going for it. Ford always builds a good truck. So if your looking to by go Ford or Dodge. The Chevy is very unimpressive looking.

Diesel trucks are built specially for loads of heavy work. American automakers are the only manufacturers in the market who make heavy duty pickups. The capability of these trucks has come down in these years, because of the fifth wheel RV trailer market.
