You Asked For It . . . Smarty Jr. Giveaway (Ends: June 30, 2011).  Another huge thank you goes out to Bob Wagner of Wagner and Associates for offering up our next big give-away! We SALUTE you Bob!
Bob is giving away a Smarty Jr. to the winner of this contest. Here is a link to find out more about the Smarty line of products:

http://www.smartypower.com/

Father's Day is coming up, so it is fitting that we have a "Father Knows Best" contest for this month.  Simply post the finest piece of advice ever bestowed by a father, a grandfather, or any other significant father figure. That post will automatically enter you into this contest.   Must be a TDR Member to win.  That's it. Winner will be selected by random drawing on July 4, 2011.  How easy is that?

In the meantime, check out the Smarty line of products, and tell all of your diesel truck friends about it.
» Why I Love My Cummins
By Robert Patton | Published 03/11/2011 | Events - General Diesel | Unrated

Did you have a chance to attend the 2010 May Madness regional event in Pahrump, Nevada?  If not, you will want to make your plans to attend this year's event now.  Here is a link to the information about the 2011 May Madness event in Pahrump, Nevada.  Click here to download the schedule and registration information.

Likewise, in June, we will have a get together at the Cummins' Columbus MidRange Engine Plant (CMEP) in Columbus, Indiana.  Here is a link to the information about the 2011 CMEP tour.  Click here to download the general overviewClick here to register for the event.

Why the emphasis and the links to these upcoming events?  Perhaps because there is something to be learned at these events.  Perhaps because there is always some form of competition that is entertaining.  Perhaps for the fellowship with other Turbo Diesel owners.  Perhaps a chance to discuss new products with other owners and vendors.  Or, perhaps to have the focus on YOU as I found in this collection of eight video clips.

You Tube Video:  Why I Love My Cummins - Watch it now.

As you will see in the video, Cummins was at the 2010 May Madness regional event with their video camera in tow, and they took the time to interview eight TDR Members.  Now ask yourself, when was the last time you starred in a video?  Never?  Me neither.  So, it was with great interest that I personally took the time to watch fellow TDR Members to see what they had to say about their trucks.  After all, I know these guys.  Do you?

- David Magnoli - San Jose, CA
- Brad Ponci - Fortuna, CA
- Eric Bickel - Salt Lake City, UT
- George Hall - Las Vegas, NV
- Jeff Scairretta, Las Vegas, NV
- Jeremy Torgersen - Eureka, CA
- Larry Willard - Frederick MD
- Harold Harks - Sumas, WA

Check out their fifteen minutes of fame.

Hope you enjoy the videos and consider joining us at one of the 2011 TDR events.

» 2011 Cummins' Columbus Mid-Range Engine Plant Tour - TDR GTG! - June 9 - 11, 2011
By Robert Patton | Published 02/8/2011 | Events - General Diesel | Unrated

Inviting all TDR Members!  Register now for the 2011 Cummins' Columbus Mid-Range Engine Plant Tour and TDR GTG!

2011 Cummins' Mid-Range Engine Plant Tour
This year’s CMEP open house and plant tour is very similar to the first gathering we had at CMEP back in 1995. That’s right. In 1995 the plant folks extended an invitation for us to visit this facility, and by the time the dust had settled, we had almost 200 trucks drive to Columbus to attend. The scope of this year’s gathering is much like that in 1995. In today's world of club and car shows this will be correctly known as a get-together or GTG. And we’re working to make this GTG an event worthy of your travel and vacation time.

If you’ve not been to Cummins CMEP before, I can promise you that you’ll not find a cleaner and more organized manufacturing location staffed with employees that are the most gracious of hosts. For fun and related reading, TDR Issue 37 gives you a look at the plant back in 2002.

As an added attraction, the folks at Dodge are busy with plans to bring 2011 trucks down for a Ride-n-Drive. Without a doubt the Friday’s festivities at the plant and at the Ride-n-Drive will make for a memorable day.

Click here to download a registration for and event overview:  2011 Cummins' Columbus Mid-Range Engine Plant Tour Registration.

To register online, click here:  2011 Online Registration.

Itinerary:

- Thursday, June 9 – Afternoon registration and evening Ice Cream Social.
- Friday, June 10 – CMEP Plant Tour, Show-n-Shine, seminars, Dodge Ride-n-Drive, Dinner gathering.
- Saturday, June 11 – Caravan to NHRDA event in Indianapolis.
- Sunday, June 12 – Rain make-up date for NHRDA event, depart for home.

So we’ve got you covered for two days (June 10-11) of solid activities and entertainment. For now, it looks like that 200 trucks may be the limit for the 2011 CMEP GTG. After all, that’s 400 people and the logistics of a plant tour for that many folks is the reason we’re asking you to sign up early.

Registration cost is $35 per person.  Once your registration is received, we will email details to you further documenting and outlining the event.  Questions or problems with registration? Give us a call at (888) 440-8371 or (770) 886-8877.

» May Madness 2011 (April 25 - May 1) - Pahrump, NV

Mad Madness Attendees 20102011 May Madness Registration.pdf

The Seventeenth Annual May Madness will be held on April 25-May 1, 2011, in Pahrump, Nevada. Other brands of diesel trucks will be welcome in addition to Cummins powered Dodges. We plan to hold most events at Saitta-Trudeau Dodge, at the nearby Pahrump Nugget (the host hotel), and at Preferred RV (the host RV Park). We plan to have new artwork for the T-shirts from the artist who has done several TDR magazine covers.

The rally will again include the vendors’ Hall of Gottahavits, technical talks, dyno, and drag racing. There will be a Show-n-Shine Truck contest, and a Ram Rodeo with a Ram roundup for all attendees. At the Awards Banquet on Saturday evening, we expect to give away more than $10,000 in prizes on a random-drawing basis, so each attendee has a chance to win something of value.

Diesel Specialists of Las Vegas and BD Power will hold a Dyno Day with their high inertia, wide roller Dynojet, for attendees of May Madness 2011. Pre-registraton for the Dyno Day is being made so Diesel Specialists and BD Power can plan their event. Include $30 with your May Madness registration and the dyno pre-registration information and funds will be forwarded to them. BD will give the first forty who pre-register a $30 gift certificate (at the Dyno Day event) good for any BD manufactured product at BD directly; this certificate may also be redeemed at Diesel Specialists for $50 on the Dyno Day, a bonus of $20 from them. A basic lunch is included, which can be upgraded for additional cost by the attendee. That means you get two dyno pulls worth $60, plus lunch, plus a $30-50 gift certificate for your $30! After the first 40 entrants, others will pay the regular $60 for their dyno runs. Got it? Sign-up now! We will not be monitoring torque, but it can be calculated easily from the horsepower curve.

Attendees should plan and conduct their own “tours” of Pahrump and Vegas Valley attractions! Brochures will be available when you register. Among the notable places to visit are the Pahrump winery, the China Ranch date farm, and Death Valley. Some of these tours will require admission fees, to be paid by the participants. Each participant will pay for individual activities. That way you pay for what you want to attend, not for what you don’t want.

The Pahrump Nugget (866-751-6500; www.pahrumpnugget.com) is the host hotel and has recently been re-modeled. It is conveniently located in the center of Pahrump and close to Saitta-Trudeau Dodge. The banquet, Vendors’ Hall of Gottahavits, and Vendors’ Friday/Saturday Seminar series will be held at the Nugget. Hotel rate will be about $70 ($80 weekend). You must reserve your room and specify the dates early, as the number of rooms is limited. If you don’t show up Sunday night, and haven’t specified YOUR dates, the reservation will be cancelled by the hotel, because we have blocked the rooms for Sunday through Saturday nights.

The host RV Park is Preferred RV Resort (800-445-7840; www.preferredrv.com). This RV Park is across the side street from the Pahrump Nugget. They are once again giving us the special rate of $15.49 including tax. Be sure to tell them you are with “May Madness.” They have both back-in and pull-through spaces, graveled. Their clubhouse holds 130 people and will be the site for the seminars up through Thursday. Other options include the Best Western Hotel and RV Park (775-727-5100), and Saddle West Hotel/Casino/RV Park (800-433-3987, www.saddlewest), both in Pahrump.

It is VERY IMPORTANT to register for May Madness 2011 early so you and we can plan for a better rally. We need a good idea of how many will participate because we have to guarantee numbers for the hotel, banquet, etc. Note that the registration cost is much lower if you are an “early bird.” Our planning and reservation processes have to begin a year before the rally.

If you need vendor space or special accommodations, contact Joe Donnelly for arrangements: (505) 858-1966 or Donnellyj@msn.com
