» Official Ford - Navistar Separation
By Robert Patton | Published 01/20/2009 | Miscellaneous Rants and Insights | Unrated
This link to the Wall Street Journal (Ford Settles Engine Dispute With Navistar) comfirms what TDR Members have known for a while from reading our "Blowin' in the Wind" column and from internet discussions.

So you are in the market for a 2010 truck.  Are you going to purchase the unproven Ford/European diesel engine?  The new Duramax in the GM truck?  Or the proven Cummins engine in a new Dodge chassis?

It makes for interesting reading . . . .
» So What's In Your Stocking This Year Contest!
By Robin Patton | Published 12/7/2008 | Miscellaneous Rants and Insights | Unrated
Post the thing (diesel truck related) that you most want to see in your stocking this year and why you want it.  What we are looking for with this contest:

- Ideas about what products you're wanting to have or learn more about in 2009
- A few good laughs (because we know how witty you can be)

The prize? A 4/2/1 filter maintenance kit for your truck (provided by Geno's Garage) or a $100 gift certificate to Geno's Garage (your choice).  Winner will be posted no later than December 25, 2008.

Merry Christmas!

What are we looking for?  Either good, sound reasons for buying diesel over gas powered vehicles or a good (clean) laugh. Go forth and post at:  http://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/free-stuff-tdr-members/205335-why-buy-diesel-100-diesel-fuel-card-prize-ends-october-3-2008-a.html.
» Holset - They Want Your Best Burnout Photograph! Today!
By Robin Patton | Published 07/9/2008 | Miscellaneous Rants and Insights | Unrated
Holset wants our help!

They are looking for a fun, action shot of a 2001 - 2006 Diesel Ram performing a thick, smoky, burn out. They would also like a SHORT story about the truck .

Picture must be available in high resolution.

The picture will appear in the new Holset "Dodge Performance" National ad for the Super 40 & Pro 52.

They would prefer a sanctioned Drag (DHRA or other) event. A safe environment is a must! No parking lots with cars or people in the area. Please, no "Babes" or "Dudes." This is about power, fun and wasting some tires.

They need the picture by 10:00 pm Central time today (July 8)! Yep, today!

The winner will receive a Holset Mag Light (2 cell AA in gift box), Holset t-shirt (4 shirts total, pick sizes S-XL), the new Holset sticker pack, and National recognition.

Contact Robin Patton at rpatton@ix.netcom.com to get a ftp link to upload your high-resolution photograph.
» $100 Diesel Fuel Card Giveaway
By Robin Patton | Published 07/8/2008 | Miscellaneous Rants and Insights | Unrated
Thanks for this contest idea goes to Gary Croyle at Perfection Clutch. He submitted this email to us in late June: Diesel Fuel Contest

Subject: Gotta laugh at it or cry.

I took this picture last week coming back from Myrtle Beach SC, SR 76/301 just a few miles east of Florence SC. I have no idea how long this station has been closed, but tens of thousands of diesel-consuming RV’s headed to the beach and cars of all types begrudgingly pass by it just after a sign that says it’s now about $4.

I didn’t see a good spot in the fuel forum’s to post this; looks a bit too serious from my brief tour.  But this must also be visible in other parts of the USA.  How about having TDR member’s show us their signs and where they are.

What a great idea for our next $100 Diesel Fuel Card giveaway.  Post your best diesel fuel related sign or photograph by July 25, 2008. Include the location of the sign or where the photograph was made. It doesn't have to be a diesel fuel price sign, but it should be relevant.

Let us see what you've got.
