Welcome! First Time Help
Thanks again for joining us at the TDR Website.
User-friendly is an overused corporate buzzword that can typically mean the opposite. We are hopeful that our site does not leave you with the same impression. In actuality, the site was designed with the editor of the TDR in mind - he is a guy that doesn't know a website from a spider web; an internet from a fish net . . . you get the picture.
You'll find the site offers a wealth of information. As a first-time user, we suggest that you start with our site's Frequently Asked Questions (for those of you new to websites, if you "click" on the blue, underlined words, you'll go directly to that document).
While this is a membership-type site, you are welcome to watch the members discuss the topics of the day on our V-Bulletin powered Discussion Forums. Keep in mind that only members can post questions/responses to the bulletin board.
What is the TDR magazine? Good question. One of my favorite automotive columnists, David E. Davis of Automobile Magazine described his periodical as follows, "A magazine, any magazine, is a unique media form. Every issue is a portfolio of events and encounters and experiences you can hold in your hand. A magazine, properly done, is like a hand-held computer that converts raw information to useful knowledge. Part newspaper, part book, part personal letter, it is current without being superficial or time-limited. Timeless, yet brisk and on-the-spot. Unlike its electronic competition, it can be easily saved and often is.
"A special-interest magazine, like this one or Wooden Boat or Gourmet or Cigar Aficionado or Double Gun Journal takes that idea a step further, and refines it. A special-interest magazine serves a catalyst for thousands of far-flung and disparate individuals like yourself, putting you in touch with one another and welding you into a sharply defined community of interest. Through your participation in a magazine like ours, you become a cohesive audience with a personality and a will of its own. Linking individuals, broadening and deepening your knowledge and understanding of the subject hat is your special interest, then produces a synergistic effect. You guys become an active and dynamic force, a sharply defined group of highly motivated and well-informed car (truck) buyers. You have clout. We're very proud to be in the same community of interest with you, and we appreciate the fact that you always seem to get the jokes."
Our thoughts exactly!
To give you a flavor for what you're missing, a sample of TDR article reprints are reprinted on the site.
Now that we've got you easily navigating the site (e-mail us with your thoughts), we'll pause for a commercial message. TDR members receive the quarterly magazine that is over 120 pages in length. Likely you've noted the members only areas of the site, areas that greatly add to the value of the TDR membership.
We do hope you'll join us.
