did I luck out?
I paid $150 for an NV4500 that came out of an '00-'01 I believe... it was traded in as a core at a salvage yard. The guy said it popped out of gear...
I pulled the top cover off, and saw what looked like half of a broken shift fork pad from the 5th/rev shift fork just laying there... so basicly, the fork has no pads.
everything else looks pretty good just based on my quick inspection w/ the top, bearing retainer, and tailhousing removed... all gear teeth and synchro teeth look good, etc. has the 5th gear nut locked and staked... only thing I could see without totally tearing it down was the missing pads.
so did I just get a decent tranny for cheap?!? never heard of shift fork problems on these trannies...
