need some help

Last Winter I spent about four months getting my 59 apache cummins powered
59 Apache suburban cummins runs

I built it for a tow rig for my 68 FJ40 with HP front 60 rear semi float 60 ARB's 400 EFI SBC nv4500 Atlas II 5.0 fully linked Fox 16" coilovers

The wierd thing is that this is the first diesel I've owned and I'm into the tow rig more than the toy
I've done quite a bit to it thru the summer getting more power but after putting bigger injectors turning up the pump playing with a couple different turbo's and housings it runs about as strong as my friends 97 12v std with almost nothing done. The Apache will pull 12000 lbs up Donner summit @50 mph in forth though.

I want more....I got my hands on a 96 12v missing the P pump that dropped a valve. The head is destroyed due to fact that half of the casting around one of the intake bolts is broken and fell into the eng probably causing the valve distress. The area betweed the seats is also mashed. The block is good with the #4 piston getting all the abuse but the cyl is OK.... I only paid $100 for the engine but I'm concerned about the costs of getting it together and there's so many P pumps out there it gets confusing reading all the Posts..I know you want a 215hp pump but I can get my hands on 160 and 175 hp pumps cheap (will I be tying my hands down the road).

Plan B I know where there's a 95 160hp auto eng with 95k thats been sitting for a couple of years I can get it for about $1000. The engine is complete from Aircleaner to turbo downpipe. I will be putting twins on either route I go down the road, so the head will come off get o-ringed, ported and studded and go back on. I will upgrade the cam and deal with the KDP.I'm wanting something in the 375 to 425 hp range with a single initially but have a good unit to build on. The questions I have are are all 12v 94-98 cyl heads the same castings? Will a 160 or 175 hp pump limit me down the road. I was planning on putting a 40 compressor on a hx-35-16, will this be a suitable primary for twins? The biggest intercooler I could fit in my chassis was a 92....huge body changes will have to happen to fit a wider intercooler into the rig will it handle higher boost pressures? or will I spend huge$$$ getting a custom unit...I have first gen motor mounts will these be happy at higher HP levels?I'm planning on spending the fall accumalating parts and $$$ but will be be hopefully have something ready to drop in by the first of the year.

I will be doing all the work except for the machine work, I've been a mechanic for 20+ years and know what to do and when to ask for help. I just wish I found this site a year earlier so I would of started with a 12v and would of known how addictive bombing these rigs are.

Thanks for any info
Mike
