#10 Plate Questions
I recently installed a #10 plate in my 94. The low end response is good and with the truck unloaded, will run up to 75 or 80 mph then quit fueling completely.
Towing the 7000# trailer on a long grade it will make about 60 mph locked up in 3rd at about 2250 rpm. At that point, there is still considerable throttle left but no response. Pushing the pedal to the floor gains nothing and the egt doesn't rise.
One good thing is that it maxes out on the egt at about 1200*.
The plate is currently set about 0.030" forward of stock position.
When I installed the plate, I set the governor lever at the bottom tip of the curve just high enough so it wouldn't ride under the plate.
To do that, I had to lower the lever considerably from the position it was set for the any of the other plates I have used.
What do I need to do to get the thing to fuel throughout the range of the throttle? Do I move the plate further forward or adjust the lever up further on the lower ramp? Or maybe both.
I am seriously considering putting the #5 plate back in. It romps and stomps all the way but egt becomes a problem when towing.
I have finally figured out a way to electronically control OD and TC lockup in my 47RH, so maybe using the #5 would be easier.
