properly tune motor

Would somebody please explain the term properly tuned engine to me. my truck is a 97 club cab w/ 5speed , exh.brk. k&n and amsoil throughtout. I am planning to buy another trailer and max out on GCVW. where should I go from here to handle 18-20k> thanks
