Clutch Pedal Click

Noticed a metalic clicking sound when engine is off and clutch is pressed in and released (louder upon releasing). Clutch engages and disengages fine when running, no slippage noted. The sound is loudest at the slave cylinder. It didn't give any indications of possibly going bad until the new clutch was installed when it took a half hour of pumping the pedal to get it to go into gear. Is it time for a new one? It has 123,xxx on it. Thanks.

Scott
