Drip, drip, I feel beaten

Well I phyched myself up and went after the KDP after long meditation and monetary preparation. I had a leak of unknown origin that prompted me to go ahead. Only have 84k on the 98 I just purchased. Was otimistic that the leak would be an easy fix. Hoping for gear cover or crank seal. Couldn't tell where the leak came from once in. Dowel pin had not moved. Tabbed and went on. Did notice that there was a wear ring or two on the crank itself. Largest was at about 3/8 inch fronm front of crank. Placed new seal the best I could and put back together. First run, Leak the same as before. Prob looks actually a little worse because there is no sludge to slow it down. Doesn't leak at idle, only after running down the road. Then it is a coulple of drops falling from steering link. Any thoughts on next step would be greatly appreciated. I am not even certain it is from the crank seal, but it shows up right at the low point centered on engine(above damper). I may just have to live with it and park it in the dirt.
