High Egt't over 2700RPM

Wanted to know what others thought of this and best way to make it better. If I take off form a stop and let all my shifts happen at 3100RPM will hit 1500deg at the top of Drive. If I flip the OD and torqueconverter lock at the same time at about 2400RPM in drive It will shift and drop down to 1800RPM or so and start riping hard and the EGT's will stay around 1350deg.

1. Is my wimpy HX40 runing out of steam up there?
2. Some thing with the 3k GSK?
3. Do I need a cam?

At the moment I am happy with the truck just wanted to see if this was normal. I have looked at may posts but thay just talk of how high not RPM VS EGT. My sweet area seems to be 1800RPM to 2600RPM.
