overdrive?

I just put a suncoaust trany in my truck it is there most extreme one it was about 7200.00 bucks and now I don't have overdrive ? I was just wondering if you need to hook up the temp sending unit or it will not allow overdrive like a safty default? it is a 47rh any Ideas would be helpful?
