Injector copper washer question

I installed stock thickness copper washers on my 300 injectors because I live close to a cummins dealer and they were in stock. I later learned that the thin washers are better with marine injectors because it gives it a better spray angle. My question is what does this mean exactly, will I have more power and less smoke that way? Or just less smoke no power difference? Lower EGT's with the thin washers? So I guess my question is what are all the differences the thinner washers will make over the stock thickness ones and is it worth changing them out?
