upgrade turbo which one?

I have a 95 12v I was told I could put a HX40 on my truck. Is this a pretty simple bult on? What turbo does my truck currently have I think it's a HX35 is that correct? I want a turbo that will still spool quikly but more boost. My current turbo only puts out about 39-40 psi with the wastgate disconected and I was told thats all it will put out, any truth to this?
