Linkage bar broken - to fuel /AFC

All, My 97 has 131k, going in today, all of a sudden, no fuel pedal - pulled over and found the linkage bar broken in the all thread area. Someone had brazed it together before.

Any ideas why this would break? This truck has been turned up, and I suspect the afc starwheel has been cranked forward, [but haven't checked]

Part is on order.....

To add to this, my wife picks me up in my 02 ford PSD with 85k, long story short I get home, shower and hop in it to go to work, On the way out I jokingly say "I hope this one doesn't break down" 3 miles later pulling out on a 2 lane hiway I give it the juice, and get bad noises, shaking and blowing grey smoke, found oil running out the tailpipe.

Good news was the tow truck that dropped the dodge on my farm, picked up the Ferd and took it to the dealer.

Never had 2 quit in one day in 32 years, hope I never do again!!!

Luke
