NO headlights intermittenly

I have a 1997 diesel cummins. While driving down the road with wife, headlights turned off. I said what the he double toothpick

. And she said oh that has happened to me several times. I said thank you for telling me now

. Well when we made it home, after playing with switch, and headlights them self decided to come back on. I checked connections, wirring, and switch, to no avail. While it is not happening, except intermittently. Does anyone have ideas, this has not happened since a couple of months ago. Thank you very much for any help.
