Governor lever adjustment screw

I installed a 0 plate in my 98 12 valve 215 pump & while checking the governor arm adjustment i noticed the arm was going under the plate. I adjusted the arm up so it would touch the bottom of the plate & while doing this the screw came out & fell into the pump. I was able to fish the screw, nut & lock washer out with a magnetic tool without a problem. My question is do i have to put the adjustment screw back in ? The arm comes up & touches the bottom of the plate without the screw in. I have the fuel solenoid pulled up in the run position & pulling the throttle back it looks to be adjusted correctly. I have the 0 plate full forward. Looking at this picture i think i could leave the adjusting screw out. Any help would be appreciated.
