Killer dowel Pin Reminder!!!

I know that some have been putting out the occassional reminder about taking care of KDP's that are on the loose so here is my two cents. I just got done tearing down a 1995 12 valve with very low miles that died from a P7100 failure (catastrophic). When I pulled the timing cover off I pulled the pump gear and the pump then decided to take a look at the cover just to see if any of the bolts were loose, they weren't but the dowel pin was sticking out a good 1/4 of and inch! Don't put it off any longer. I could spin the pin with my fingers!!! It is way too easy to eliminate this potential issue so get it done. If anyone gets on here and cries about their worthless Cummins dropping a dowel pin..........................................I'll say I told you so. If anybody in Alaska wants help doing this I will volunteer shop space and time/tools to help get it done.
