disconnecting low fuel chime?

Fuel sending unit acting up,it goes on and off, you all know what I mean. Anyways do not have time to fix in the next couple of weeks and would like to know how to disconnect the chime or do I disconnect the whole unit. If so where is the easest place to do so? Thanks
