Starter solinoid rebuild kit, PIECE OF CAKE!!
Had the heart stoping sound of click, click, click (panic starting to creep in) and then, vrooom as my truck decided to start. (this during a fire call. Hate when that happens..) Anyway, thanks to the great folks on this site, I found the place to get a solinoid rebuild kit.
KEITH SWEARIGAN'S DIESEL ELECTRIC SERVICE 520.836.8231
Great service!!!
(My local parts jobbers couldn't get anything for me but a complete starter. Said there are no kits available.... )
It's so easy to install, that you'd really have to try to screw it up..
(BEEN THERE, DONE THAT BEFORE!!)
While I had the starter out, I checked out it's insides too. The damn thing looked like it just came off the storeroom shelf!!! No wear at all at a little over 100K miles. Less than an hour from disconnecting the batteries to turning the key to see how it starts.
Hmmmm, lets see. $34.00 (including shipping) for the kit, orrrr
$350.00 to $450.00 for a new starter.. Just call me frugal... :D Hope this helps someone else..
