Southbend Con O...Never proved itself before death

When my stock Clutch went out last year, I decided to upgrade but not go too wild since my truck isnt necessarily a power-house. When the clutch was first installed I didn't notice too much of a difference in the grab.

After I tried my truck at a local pull and using a higher gear (3rd-4lo) the clutch smoked all the way down the track, too say the least I was very concerned. The only weird thing was that when the clutch was totally engaged on take-off, it slipped and slipped for about 10 seconds until it just started grabbing by itself and grabbed good until the end of the track.

Once I consulted with some friends of mine, we just figured the reason it slipped and smoked so bad was because it hadnt been broken in yet. After that pull (and the smell of burnt clutch smell dissipated) the clutch grabbed excellent, never slipping once.

Well a few weeks ago I decided to take the ole' girl out for a spin (after a few drinks) I decided to take it out for a beat run. I wanted to do a burnout (dump the clutch in 3rd, 4.10 gears) on some gravel that lead to a paved road. Well I got the tires spinning in the gravel but as soon as I hit the pavement, tires grabbed, RPM's stayed the same.

Ever since that stupid mistake the clutch has slipped more and more until the point I am at now, every time I give it more then 1/4 throttle the clutch slips.

I guess all I'm looking for with this story of a post is other stories with this clutch, and what I should look at doing. I am in college right now, I have two years left, I was hoping this clutch could last me because I can't afford to buy another one or pay for a rebuild!
