Oil Leak Driver Side

I am posting this on behalf of a friend who has a 12V, I hang out in the 24V section normally.

There is a pretty good oil leak that appears to be coming from high on the block toward the front of the drivers side. It looks like there might be a cover there where the oil is leaking from. In the attached photo you can see the seam at the bottom of this cover/plate where we think the oil is leaking from.

Is an oil leak from this area common? Will this require replacing a gasket or can this be tightened? Very hard to see in this area as it is behind the injection pump.

Any help would be appreciated.
