Tranny died. Truck towed home. Help!!
Coming home from work. Going uphill trans started slipping and truck stopped. Tried to runaway downhill backwards in drive! Outside air temp 100°+. Truck temps normal. Trans overheat light never came on.
Waited a little while and coaxed it to move forwards. Got it over the top and came down the hill in drive but it felt like it was in neutral.
Coasted to a stop. No forward movement in any gear. No rearward movement in reverse. Called for a flatbed, and towed it home.
While waiting for the tow I checked the fluid. It appeared to be overfull! Once home and on the ground, I put it in reverse and it moved. Haven't tried drive yet.
Any ideas?
The ironic thing is; I had just this morning called Bill K. and got some great information (again!) on a different matter. Go figure.
