still no answer for boost turn up???

Had a post early last week, asking what you guys mean by turning up the boost.
I never really got a straight answer!! I was wanting to know how it is that you can just turn up the boost.I am referencing several past post here that have this same coment>..
Input please! Would like to know if this is just a slang way of saying that you did something to get more boost or if you turned up pressure someway!!
