Question Torque Plate and guages

Ok, this is my first post on here at TDR, and I couldn't ask a dumber question, but could someone enlighten me as to where the torque plate is and if I should adjust it forward? I understand what it does from reading the posts and I am very mechanically inclined, but don't want to try and adjust it blindly. The only thing I have done is a K&N filter. The main reason I want more power is for pulling trailers. I pull a 24 foot enclosed trailer, loaded with motocross crap, lots of water and anything else I can get into it. I also want you all to know this is a awsome web-site and you guys are going to make me spend some money on Bombing.... my wife is going to kill me. Oh Yeah what guages should I start with since monitoring vitals helps your motor live longer. I would like to go with pillar mount, any reccomendations on brand?

Thanks
