well i replaced my tsp at 59k miles right after i bought the truck used. it has run fine since then but now it is acting up bad again. just driving down the road on a trip from indiana to florida this weekend......wham... wacko it went!! in/out.....up/down 100-250 rpm. feels like it is getting ready to shift into overdrive and doesn't.
so..... i get out the lap top with some saved info on how to check the voltages. got to walmart and bought voltmeter/wire/paperclips/tape etc. and checked the voltages...they were fine. i tuned them in to 1.00 and 3.8v. no spikes while running the throttle back and forth....get back out on the road and no help.... so i run up the idle voltage to 1.05-1.10-and finally 1.20. nothing helps. so i take the thing off and clean the **** out of it and nothing helps. so i am home now. i still have the old tsp. i cut it open and took some pics for illflem. looks like you can drill a weep hole in the side above the mold line towards the back side. i still need to clean the melted plastic up and smooth everything out. i would like to keep the new one in the truck and not have to put this cut up one back in.
anyway... what can i do from here? i heard there is a capacitor filtering method by way of a 440uf 35vdc capacitor. has anyone used this method? looks like this is what i will try next. any suggestions? i just don't want to spend another $175 on a tsp. thanks. scott.

the three wires going to the tsp are:
orange?
purple?
and black= must be ground...
which one is signal? orange?
which one is signal return? purple?
