Angry Battery casing splits

This afternoon while I was under the beast opening the oil drain plug ... I noticed water ??hmmmm?? running off the intake tube on the drivers side .... stuck my finger in it ... took a sniff ... Hmmm smells like battery acid!! So ... I open up the hood .. and low and behold ... the casing ( DC battery 4 years old warranty replacement ) had split about an inch down from the top on the aft side!! What a mess!! Paint bubbled up all over the inner fender well... battery tray and sides of battery wet with acid ... dusted everything with a heavy coat of baking soda let it sit while I ran to get a new battery and flushed everything with water... looks like I'll be ripping everything out of the drivers side for a re-paint. Damn ... Check your casings!
