Manual Trans Lube

I recently change out my trans lube using Mobil 1 synthetic, API 5; this was shown as compatible in Autozone computer. I could not locate the recommended Castrol Syntorq. With about 3000 miles on this lube, gear engagement going into 3rd is not as smooth as it was. I've got a couple questions. Did I use a lube that I should not have used? If I change it out, will I reverse the effects? What's the best lube to use? Thanks for responses.
