Question Help On Injector Replacement

I'm getting ready to install larger injectors in my 12v. I've read the DD instructions and the instructions in the Service Manual. The SM says: "(4) Thoroughly clean the area around the injector. (5) Hit the injector body with a brass drift to loosen it. (6) Hold the injector body with one wrench while removing the injector nut with another. (7) It may be necessary to tap the injector with an injector puller tool."
DD's instructions say: (13) using a 15/16" deep socket loosen each injector retaining nut. (14) Screw the injector puller tool supplied into each injector in turn and using a pry bar remove the injectors." The injector tool looks like a nut with the same threads as the injector nut.
The SM makes it look like the injectors are really snug and need to be jarred loose. DD makes it sound a lot simpler...just pry it out. Can anyone shed some light on the different approaches...what works; what doesn't? Do I need to buy the removal tool or will the threaded nut work? If it's the nut, what size is it?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
