idle speed dropped

My friends 96 dodge cummins with an auto matic and he just noticed today on a trip back home, when he got back to town his idle dropped from 900rpm to 400rpm. The truck still runs fine no stumble or anything. Any ideas on what might cause the problem. Thanks!!
