rebuild results

ok must of you knwo that for the last month I have been rebuilding my 94 cummins 230,000. well here is the story about the truck. we had a pretty major oil leak it was blowing oil out the dipstick tube all over the place. The following was written to a buddy a couple of weeks ago and it is teh whole story.

"well the oil leak got worse after kerrville and I started worrying so dad and I decided to take a look at what could be causing the oil leak. we started by stoping up the dip stick tube jsut to see what would happen. well then I saw a spot right next to the vaccum pump that was leaking oil so we decided that the seal was out. well we got in to the gear housing and found that a bolt behind the cam gear that holds the gear housing to the block had backed out and was rubbing on the cam gear. so after finding that we decided to pull everything out and do it all the right way. while we had everything out we sent the clutch back to peter and have it fixed. we then sent the engine to a local shop where he went through everything the only thing he could find was bad valve guides. when we went to pick up the engine the guy asked how many miles were on the truck, when I told him 230000 he was very impressed he said that he coldn't find any wear on the cyclinder walls. so that was good news. with all the spare time I started in on dad and finally talked him into a new cam and a 4k GSK and that is where we are today. "

now for the up date first off let me say that don't be afraid of these engines they just look like their tuff to work on.
I have been driving the truck for 4 days now the first couple hundred miles I was easy (break in period. ) spool up is insane I need a bigger turbo for a little lag
low end is super mid range is even better. not much difference in top end mainly because of BHAF (soon to be replaced) I have not driven enough to see about MPG. EGT are in check for the most part I can go 0-70 hard and not get over 1200.
as far as power, very pleased, that may have a little to do with the 4K GSK
the only problem I have is that it rained tonight and driveability is down a little I almot have to start in 3rd to keep from breaking loose.

but other then that I am VERY HAPPY with the rebuild.

sorry so long but I had to let everyone know .
