Unhappy Transmission Noise

My 95 5 spd has recently developed what I call a chattering noise at about 1800 RPM. It is only on acceleration and or steady speed at that RPM, drop below or go past and it disappears. Holding onto the gear shift while it is doing it doesn't seam to stop the noise or even feel like it's coming through the gear shift. Oil level is Ok and no external bolts appear to be loose. The truck has 103000 miles with very little towing and has had Amsoil 75w/90 in it all it's life. Any ideas on a diagnosis would be appreciated, before I take it to a tranny shop! THANKS!!
