TPS either too high, or too low voltage

OK, I have been haveing a problem with the TC unlocking when I am unloaded at 55 mph. OK at 70, but the throttle was just too light at 55.

My Dads 97 3500 will not unlock until he hits the brakes. I kind of like that, so, I run the voltage up to 1.46 volts on the TPS at Idle. Now, it will not unlock when I let off the throttle, but will not lock up under acceleration.

So, I drop TPS voltage to 1.16 at idle, now it will unlock when I let up off the throttle, but almost never locks up under acceleration. I have to lift, wait for it to lock up, the go again.

If I go much lower on the voltage, I will be back where I started.

I remember when I first got this truck, when it was stock. It seems like the TC would lock at around 45 or 50 mph, no matter how much throttle I was giving it. I mean halfway to the floor, and it still locked up and PULLED at 45 mph.

It seems the Computer delays lockup if voltage is much above 2 volts (guessing) and unlocks if below 1.2 volts. This is such a narrow window of lock up voltage. I have, in the past, been pulling 10,000 pounds at 65 mph, and the converter NEVER lock up until I lift and wait. Trans temps soar!

I have a DTT trans, about 8 months old. What is the answer? My wife leaves at 4 am in the morning on a 700 mile round trip to go pick up a goose neck loaded to 10,000 pounds, and I am trying to explain to her how to tell if the converter is locked up.
