About the Getrag

I am a new guy to the TDR. I would like to ask what it is about the Getrag 5sp tranny that is supposed to be so bad? The reason I am asking this is because I have one in my truck with over 200,000 on it, and my son's just went out on his 92 and is now down in my basement after he replaced his with a 4500. And it had about 80,000 LESS miles on it than mine does. If I have this one rebuilt, what could I do to make it as bullet proof a tranny as possible? I have read about adding an extra quart to it. Is that all that can be done to make it better? Thanks for taking your time.------ The Doc
