ABS Sensor and Dual Exhaust?

Ok two questions for ya guys tonight. I need an honest answer on the ABS sensor how much does it have to do with the speedo I've tried a few other things with attempting to get my speedo fixed such as replacing the speed sensor on the tranny, using electolite on the connections. Dodge admits that the ABS sensor may or may not have anything to do with the speedo on the truck but can't tell me for sure and the part costs 90 bucks so I'm not really too psyched on paying 90 bucks for something that I may not need.
Second question. Part of my tail pipe broke off the other day So now I'm looking into getting rid of the muffler and straight piping it. The mechanic that will be performing the work (which will only cost me 75 bucks) I asked him about giving the truck dual exhaust but he says that with the diesel engine and adding dual exhaust will cause too much turbulance in the exhaust system and that the engine will not react well to it. Has anyone in here added a Y pipe to there truck and noticed any problems with it?
Thank for your help guys.
