Rear noise ?

I have a strange ping or ringing sound from the rear of my truck when ever I go from forward to reverse and when I stop. It sounds like it's reverbing through the drive shaft.I checked the u-joints and they have no play in them but I haven't pulled the rear cover. It's going to the shop in the next week but I figured I ask to see if anyone has a clue.
