third gen wheels fit first gen?

i have found some wheels from a third gen realativly close to me for a decent price, before i go get them will they fit? i don't want to mess the backspacing or have troubles with the rear drums, and i can't find anything in the search engine, so if anyone has some experience, i'd like to hear it...
