New VE Pump Info

Guys,

I learned something this weekend while modifying my pump further......This is probably some secret info that some folks don't want us to know, but then who really cares

After installing a modifed gov spring the idle speed is way high. I mentioned earlier that you can re-index the throttle shaft to help obtain an idle speed of say, 800 rpm's. Well, the problem is when you turn the fuel up that (slow) idle speed jumps up too.

This is what I have done. Sorry, no picks, yet.

I removed the throttle lever from the pump's shaft. I ground off the area of the shaft that contacts the pump's top when at full slow idle position. I then cut off the 90° piece that the idle screw contacts and welded it back farther. I welded it to the underside of the lever. This will now allow for an exagerated full fuel screw setting w/ a modified gov spring and STILL obtain a desirable slow idle speed.

Please remember that you will want 60# valve springs as well as modification(s) to the throttle linkage(s) to obtian the full range of (pump) lever movement. I would not recommend floor boarding the pedle with out the tranny engaged in some kind of gear for fear of scattering things.
