Fuel Screw

Alright I did some adjusting on my fuel screw tonight and I just got a few questions to make sure I did everything correctly. I first removed the metal cover and removed the lock collar. I then decided I'd just remove the entire screw from the pump (roughly 18 turns), turned the jambnut about 2-2.5 turns ccw and reinstalled the screw in the pump (roughly 20-21 turns in). When I had the screw out I notice for one thang that #2 flowed out which I assume is normal and that the screw that a small L shaped piece on it. Since I couldn't see the L piece when I was taking it out I didn't really pay any attention to where it was when I put the screw back in. Does this matter? Set the idle back down to where I thought it should be, I've only got about 4-5 threads left showing on that screw toward the front of the truck. I thought it was to high until I started my dad's 96 and it's lower that his. Is that okay or should I turn the idle back up a little? And yes I can make tailgaters get off my ***** now I does seem to have more response but I was to excited about the smoke to pay much attention
