getrag trans

my trans is sick 1st and 2nd synchronizer is failing unable to get into 1st at all and now i have to double clutch or come to almost a complete stop to ingage 2nd gear i hope it will last till next summer.
i have read some post that some of you have rebuilt there trans just wondering if this has been a home job or have you had some else do it and if done at home how hard is it to rebuild.
