cylinder head & gasket

hey all,

i am thinking my intermittant low power may be coming a problem with the cylinder head and/or gasket. i am going to be checking a few more things, but in my experience the least likely and most expensive thing to fix is usually what solves my problem.

i have pulled cylinder heads and head gaskets on mercedes diesels, but never a cummins. so i need to learn the cummins way of doing this job.

i plan to use a cummins dealer head gasket kit.

seems to me it would be a good idea to have the head pressure tested and planed as necessary. but should i just replace it? should i get a PDR head? o or a shied's head? should i drive up to sheid's and let them do the entire job?

thanks,

brian
