Trans Temp Gauge

First time post. What an awsome forum. I have spent many hours reading through the archives and they have answered most of my questions exept the following.

In order to make the install of my Trans temp gauge easier (more wire to work with) can I add a section of wire between the Trans temp probe and the Driving Circuit Box it is wired into or will this cause a problem with the gauge's ability to function properly
