Will a school bus engine work in a pickup?

A buddy of mine just picked up a '90 turbo diesel Dodge pickup, and it broke the cam. He came up with a deal on a '90 5.9 engine and when it came in, it turned out to be from a school bus. Can this engine be made to work in the pickup? If so, what needs to be swapped over? Or, should he dump it and get a pickup engine? Or do we need more information to answer the question? Anybody?...Greenleaf?
