Angry Shop woes

Hey all,

I have been away a while. Mom's email box wont allow me into the forums. But anyway, her truckhad a leaking pinion seal, and she went to get it replaced, and it also needed a ne yoke and bearings. Guy at Hart Tire and Fast Lube in Popar Bluff MO said he could do it, so Mom said ok. It howled like a banshee off the lot. THe guy siad it wold get better, as it had to wear a new pattern after being off set for so long. Ring and pinion were in good shape. In 3500 miles, it howled so loud you could not hear the radio at 65 (and it has the premium sound with 6x9s in back). SO I went in and talked to the guy, told him I needed to talk to him about the differential in th 92 Dodge he did a couple months ago. Redneck got real surly and defensive with me, saying "I TOLD her [Mom] the ring and pinion were worn!" I didnt even tell him what was going on yet. So we went round and round a few minutes, I called him liar and a crook, and he called me a punk kid who needed to get his sh!+ straight. So I told his boss he had a liar in his shop, and he cost the compay $1000 for the summer (4 new tires for my brand F, alignment for truckand 2 cars, plus work on Ford). Again, I had no clue what I was talking about. After all, I am not a certified swampeast misery redneck crook "mechanic", what do I know about 1 ton rear ends? (enough to know I had neither the tools nor experntise to tackle it, thaks to this forum) I was going through town a few days later, when I stepped off the line at a light, and heard a loud THUNK from the differential. I let off the gas, and there was a bunch of clicking. Eased back into it, and it did it again. Fortunately it was the las light in town,so I limped it the 14 miles home. Took it via tow truck) to a semi shop that 3 or 4 people recommended, and it was supposed to get going today. After it is all better, we are going to go down there and tell the boss (at Hart Tire) to either reimburse us for the repairs ($750 or so in parts and labor), or we will take him to court. We have in writing what the mechaic said was wrong with it, and had a dozen people tell us it should not have made any noise, and that Alan (the lying "mechanic") got the pinion too tight.
Wish us luck, we're gonna need it.
