Thank you to everyone - problem has been solved...

My non running 1st Gen was due to a dead PCM.

Because of this forum, I had a methodical path to follow in figuring out whether it was the PCM or not. Some of what I found corrected, including the negative battery cable and some of the body to frame, body to body and body to wiring harness grounds clearly needed to be done anyway. Well, I ended up with only one last option aside from burning it to the ground which was the PCM. Got a rebuilt one from Ebay recommended by a couple of people here. Installed and VOILA...perfect.

Thanks again. This place is a godsend for 1st Gen owners.
