Question Self Adjusting cable problems

Every time I pull my rear brakes apart I notice that the Self Adjusting cable has once again come apart from the Star wheel clicker. This time it has eaten my spring that keeps it tight so I need to replace that. But does anyone have any ideas on how to keep this tighter so it doesn't fall apart. I have new drums, shoes, hardware kit and new axle seal since that blew out and made a BIG mess . Truck seems to stop much better though having those new items on there.

Thanks.
