Timing pin location????

I recently purchased a set of tools to set my own valves. I downloaded a set of instructions from the net. It says something about a timing pin to insert for #1 cylinder on compression. I have a '92 CTD and can't find the timing pin. Does it have one? If so where is it at? Thanks....
