Pump Settings

Hi all,
I would like to get everyone's ideas on pump settings on their First Gens, particluarly the starwheel/diaphram settings. I enjoy tweaking engines and I'm always looking for hints for more economy, power, etc. For the story on my RAM, a local diesel tech shop adjusted diaphram to full and lightened up my starwheel two turns, as near as I can firgure. When I turned in my power screw, she smoked like a Jimmy! Can't have that, so I started turning the starwheel back till slight smoke only comes on a full throttle with the diaphram at stock and starwheel 2/3 CCW from stock. Funny thing, the stock setting on my diaphram was less a quarter turn from max. Anyway, when the turbo spools up, smoke will disappear all the way to 23psi. I don't mind a little smoke, especially when I catch a lowrider in the right lane with the window open Besides, I never met a good running n14/400 that didn't smoke some, especially when passing a Silver Head Jimmy! Anyway, I'm just curious to what everyone else is doing these days. Also, how are the BD injectors? When my injectors are due for replacement, I might as well replace them with performance ones. I'm thinking of either BD or PW, mainly to lessen the load off the pump. I've heard lots of good about PWs and I want to get some thoughts about the BDs before I make a desision.

Mike
